Phil Davis is injured and won’t be able to fight Rashad Evans at UFC 133, MMA Fighting reported this Tuesday. But Rashad might not stay for too long without an opponent.
Lyoto Machida’s manager, Ed Soares told TATAME he didn’t knew anything about a possible Machida-Evans rematch at UFC 133, on August 6th, but Lyoto’s wife, Fabiola, told TATAME that the UFC offered the karate fighter this fight, but he didn’t decided if he’ll accept it or not due to timing.
A former UFC light heavyweight champion, Lyoto became the number one in the rankings by giving Rashad his first loss in MMA at UFC 98, via KO. Since then, Rashad stepped in the octagon and defeated Thiago Silva and Rampage Jackson, both by decision.
After defending his title against Mauricio Shogun Rua in a controversial decision, Machida lost for the first time with a KO by the hands of Shogun, then dropped to a controversial decision loss against Rampage. Back to his “last chance” in the UFC at Canada, Machida blasted Randy Couture with a front kick KO win.
