Pointed out by many as the best pound by pound in the world, Georges St. Pierre will put his belt in line at UFC 129, against the American Jake Shields, and he’s ready to go. Before entering the cage, the champion chatted with TATAME Magazine, on the edition published on this month’s edition, and talked about his preparation for the fight, the trainings with Roger Gracie, in England, the possibility of fighting Anderson Silva and a lot more. Check below a part of the interview.

How was this experience of training with great Jiu-Jitsu fighters, like Roger Gracie and Braulio Estima? Are you training with them all along or just doing this final part of your preparation?

I’m a mixed martial artist. Brazilian JIu-Jitsu is my favorite sport, so I want to become better at it, and especially for this fight. I’m fighting an expert in Grappling, so I want to be able to use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to come for a submission.

How do you see Jake Shields’ Jiu-Jitsu and the techniques he uses in MMA?

Jake Shields calls it Grappling American Jiu-Jitsu, because he doesn’t train with the gi. Me, I want to know American Jiu-Jitsu, but I’m using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I’m training with the best on the sport right now.

Which advantages you think you have by training with the gi for a MMA fight? Do you think it brings you different techniques you’ll use on the fight?

Sure… I believe that it makes your game more technical, and I believe it’s very important.

You’ve been dominating this division for a long time. Beating Jake Shields, do you still think there’re challenges for you in this division?

I think I’ll always gonna have challenges everywhere because nobody is invincible, and everyone can be beaten if they do any mistake.

You’ll now fight in front of 55 thousand people. Do you think it brings you some extra responsibility? Everybody will be there to watch you fighting…

I think I have a lot of pressure, but it’s good because I perform at my best when I’m under pressure.

Who would you point as a possible opponent after this fight? Do you see anyone knocking on the door for a title shot?

I’m not sure right now what will happen after my fight with Jake Shields. Right now I’m just focusing on Jake Shields, I don’t know about the rest.

Some people are talking about a possible fight between you and Anderson Silva, and Dana White has commented on this matter, saying he wants it to happen. Is it possible to happen?

I think it’s possible to happen. It just depends on the outcome of my fight, the outcome of his fight. All they want to arrange the fight, but there’re a lot of details… But I think it could be possible.
