Thales Leites was fired from UFC, but he had many job offers. Since his dismissal at the end of 2009, the black belt from Nova União fought three times and got off the ring as the winner in all of them. On August 14, Thales was chosen to fight on War on the Mayland, when he will dispute his division’s title with Falaniko Vitale. “If I win, it’ll be my fourth win since I left UFC. I’m not worried if I’m coming back to Ultimate or not, because meanwhile good things are happening to me. On the beginning I was upset about it, but it made me more mature”, said Thales, who should also sign a contract of three fights on the Canadian event MFC, an event on which he already fought twice.
“MFC wants me to sign a three fights contract, so I’m very excited about fighting on the United States and in Canada. I believe that my next MFC fight will also be for the belt”, revealed. While his managers worry about his business contracts, Thales is focused totally on his training. Besides having his training partners of Nova União, the tough guy has been having the support of great heavier sparrings on Delfim’s gym.
“The trainings are great, I’m on Delfim with Pedro Rizzo, Glover Teixeira and Vitor Miranda. I go to Nova União too, I’m training every week on both gyms. I’m feeling great, I did the same on my last fight. On Delfim I work more on my stand up game, there’re lots of bang experts over there. The guys are heavier, a thing I never had before, I’ve always been the heaviest in Nova União and I’m the lightest there, and that helps me to work on my takedowns”, explained Thales, who wants to test what he has been training with Vitale.
“I’ll get there and start to punch him (laughs). It all depends on how it’ll happen, but I’ll be prepared for everything. Let’s see what happens. The occasion will bring me to the right place. If the fight happens while wee stand up, it’ll be also a good thing, it’d be a good time for me to test my training”, concluded.
