The Brazilians Willamy Chiquerim and Thiago Tavares were chosen to confront each other on UFC on Versus 2, which happens this Sunday (1), in San Diego, United States, but due to a knee injury of Chiquerim, the bout was cancelled at the last minute, what made Tavares very disappointed, since he stayed off the event because the organizers could not fight him another opponent and he did not spare any critics to Willamy. “He fucked it up, I’m out. If he was hurt before and didn’t say a thing, he was very irresponsible”, said Thiago to TATAME’s website Wednesday (28).as he saw Thiago’s statements, Chiquerim got in touch with our crew this morning (29) and told us his side of the story.

“I’m not a bad athlete, I’m a sportiest and he put me as a bad athlete. I’m not here to disturb anyone’s career, I got hurt right before the fight. I wanted to fight him anyway, I had that thought in mind, I was training hard and excited about this fight. If I fought, I’d screw what was already injured. He said I knew I had an injury, I believe he didn’t use the right words, because I’m not that kind of person who pretends to be hurt. He didn’t say things right, he didn’t really got the time to stop and think about what he said and he’s not in a position to say anything about me because he keeps getting hurt all the time”, said Chiquerim, who still wants to make his debut on UFC against Tavares.

“Now, more than ever, I want this bout, because I already wanted to fight him, but I couldn’t, but well confront each other for sure. I believe my next fight will be against him. I’m not the kind of guy who would create something about being hurt, these things happen. Just like it happened to him, now it happened with another Brazilian, Thiago Silva, who got off the card. It’s something common on the sport”, concluded Chiquerim.
