Anderson Silva Sunday 04th of July 2010 04:41 PM By Guilherme Cruz

Middleweight champion of UFC, Anderson Silva is training hard for his next bout on the American octagon, against Chael Sonnen. Between the trainings, the tough guy talked to TATAME about his preparations and the polemic statements given by his opponent on UFC 117. “Inside that cage the speech changes, everything changes. The last one who spoke too much didn’t like the outcome, but it’s normal. People have their mouth and their right to say whatever they feel like”, said, defending Rodrigo Minotauro and explaining the change to the United States in the search of better trainings.

How are things on the United States and the trainings for your next bout?

It’s getting closer. It’s nice, the trainings here are great, the guys are helping me a lot here. And the preparation on Nike’s Training Center is a little different than what I’m used to, with Rogerão, Distak, who are always training with me when I’m in Brazil, and the guys André Galvão, Jacaré, Feijão, all the guys from the gym…

Why did you decide to bring your trainings to America?

I had to stay here because of some paper work, but it’s been nice so far. The guys are helping me, Mark Muñoz is helping me, Ramon (Lemos) is training along with me the ground game, Diógenes, Dan Dan and all the guys are really committed on my training and preparation here.

What are your expectations for this bout against Chael Sonnen, a guy who has been saying a lot of things to the press?

I’m cool… I’m not anxious about his statements, I don’t worry about those things. He is promoting this fight the way he cans. He’s a great athlete, he’s having a chance to fight for the belt, so let’s go. When you get there, everything changes. Inside that cage the speech changes, everything change. The last one who spoke too much didn’t like the outcome, but it’s normal. People have their mouth and their right to say whatever they feel like.

He exaggerated, saying things about Minotauro, calling him a punching bag. Do you think he lost his mind on this “promotion of the fight”?

Man, I can’t say much. There’s only one thing for me to say: I’d give my life for Minotauro and Minotouro, that’s all. The rest we’ll see on the day of the bout.

The expectations for this event are great, since it’ll be six Brazilians fighting six Americans. Do you hope for a big Brazilian party?

It’s time of Fifa’s World Cup, Brazil is coming home, it’s complicated… But let’s go, let’s do our jobs. Brazil lost there, we’ll make a great overturn here. Let’s try to keep this Brazilian hegemony there as champions… Let’s go there, let’s try.
