BJJ Worlds 2010: Luanna Alzuguir By Guilherme Cruz

World champion on 2009, Luanna Alzuguir made a good show on the lasts events she joined. Winning all of the competitions she got into, Alliance’s black belt want the bi championship in California, and is already training focused on the gold. In an interview given to TATAME, Luanna spoke about the evolution of her trainings, what have changed since she went training at Alliance, the pressure of being the great favorite for the title of CBJJ Worlds, the possibility of fighting MMA on the future and a lot more.

You won the World last year, ADCC, World Pro, Pan Am, European too… What do you see this evolution of yours in the championships?

That’s the result of a well structured work, which I’m doing and thing start working out even faster. The dedication has increase and the trainings on Alliance are fantastic, the level is so high,  it dismisses any kind of comments. I’m working on my conditioning along with Dimas and I’m developing this part too. I’m really focused, and that is the result of all of it.

What were the differences you could notice when you started training on Alliance?

The gym has a good structure. You can notice the focus all around because a lot of people that train there actually are Jiu-Jitsu fighters. The big difference is that everyone has the same goal, so we help each other. Besides Fábio Gurgel, who is a professor that teaches us a lot of techniques during the trainings, and enables that kind of evolution within the Jiu-Jitsu.

What does it feel to get to the World as the favorite? Is there a lot of pressure on you?

It doesn’t mean a thing; we get more confident as our efforts start to show their results. That’s the way, but each fight is different, each championship is not the same so I can’t get there seeing myself as the favorite. You have to get there willing to fight for the title, wanting the victory and manage to make your JIu-Jitsu works.

You have earned a lot of money with Jiu-Jitsu lately, but do you think about fighting MMA?

It’s a thing that goes through my head, but it’s not an immediate thing, I still have a lot of thing to achieve in the Jiu-Jitsu and Submission. I’m starting winning things now and I don’t intend to stop it now and focus on MMA, but is a thing that may be come true in the future.

Do you already have the curiosity to train MMA, Boxing?

I’ve played a while with gloves, but when I decide to go that way I’ll focus my trainings to develop that part, but, for now, it’s going really slow.

How is your trainings in Alliance for the World?

The trainings are very hard, the team is very tight, and everyone is focuses. The trainings are directed and the expectations are really high. We’re very confident on our trainings due to the results that are coming for us and the goal is to win the division title and close up the absolute with Gabi (Garcia), just like we did on Pan Am. That’s what I’m hoping. This year everyone will come to São Paulo. Cobrinha and Lucas (Lepri) are here already, everyone will get together in São Paulo to train together and we want to win the male and female team title.
