Fourth place on ADCC’s absolute, the Islander Gunnar Nelson was graduated black belt by the Brazilian Renzo Gracie after his performance on the Submission Grappling tournament, that happened last weekend in Barcelona, Spain. Forced to fight two categories above his weight, the fighter was eliminated on the first fight, defeated by James Brasco on referee’s decision.

Fighting on the absolute, Nelson started very well, defeating Jeff Monson on the extra time, by 3x0. On the next fight, the Islander submitted David Avellan, that had eliminated Roberto Abreu on the previous fight. On the semi final, Nelson was submitted by Xande Ribeiro, losing the third place fight for the Brazilian Vinny Magalhaes, by 3x0, on the extra time. Besides the good performance on ADCC, Nelson is doing a good job on MMA, where he won the five fights he made, one by submission and four by (T)KO.
