Three times BJJ world champions, Beatriz Mesquita confirmed the favoritism in the 2009 Worlds, winning the gold in the open class and in weight after submitting six out of seven opponents. To complete the happiness of the fighter, Letícia Ribeiro, her teacher in Gracie Humaitá, graduated her brown belt at the podium. Last week, Bia already started competing in the new belt, and made a good presentation again.

"I was in a rest rhythm when I arrived from the United States in the first week of June, then Letícia called me and talked about the competition, I immediately interested in participating, debuting the brown belt. So, I went to São Paulo with Luiz Fernando. I just was a little surprised with the climate in here, it was very cold, but nothing that upset me so much", says the fighter, who submitted Patrícia Lage (Barbosa) on Saturday, winning the gold in the lightweight category, and, in the next day, won the middleweight open class, winning a belt and, also, a cash award.
